*No prior direct experience is necessary. The candidate for this position will be trained to Dixon Custom Cabinetry’s higher-level standards. However, a working knowledge of “commercial sprayroom-paint environment” is a plus.
*The best candidate for this position will be an individual that is extremely attentive to details and perhaps, maybe even a little OCD. You must be able to lift up to 70 lbs on a regular basis. You’re ready to work hard, as necessary and are not-at-all afraid to get your hands dirty or to break a sweat. During the summer months work is in a hot environment, at times. During winter, it can be relatively chilly. Safety will always be the precedence above all else.
Once this individual has been properly trained and has successfully demonstrated themselves; they will be responsible for the complete paint preparation process and Paint Lab quality control.
Daily Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to: the handling and mixing of all sealers, topcoats, stains, glazes, toners, primers, paints, and specialty products in their prescribed, safe and proper manner. Ensuring the cleaniness and maintainance of “fresh” mixing containers, pressure pots, spray equipment and other necessary mixing items, – daily “reclamation process” duties and prep for a fresh machine cycle, – assistance with proper restocking of newly acquired inventory items.
The candidate must have a “decent Eye,” and good color-matching skills.
*Sorry, No color blindness and you must have good eye-sight.
*Self-motivation and good time-management skills are required.
*Ability to operate a fork-lift is a plus. (We will train, if necessary.)
*Must have a reasonable tolerance to paint related fumes in working space.
(Safety equipment is readily available, as needed and/or required.)
Other responsibilities of this position shall include intermediate supervisory skills (when ready), ensuring regular cardboard and trash removal and various cleaning and organization projects or tasking as directed by management personnel.
*For the right candidate, this position can eventually lead to potentially learning all of the proper “Paint Lab” processes. There is a reasonable amount of upward mobility for occupational growth in this position.
After a successful demonstration; the candidate (when ready) will become a “Paint Lab Technician” and shall be (a) leader, in the department. This person will then inform and report to the Production or the Operations Manager.
